Abstract: Professor Huang Bingwei graduated from the Department of Geography at Zhongshan University in his early years. As a native of Guangdong Province, he cherishes his native places. Many of his geographical studies were carried out in Guangdong Province. His contributions to the geographical studies in the southern part of China include. (1) He proposed the line of demarcation between tropical and subtropical regions. This result can be used as a scientific basis for determining the distribution of tropical crops.(2) There are many mountains and hills in the southern part of China, which lias serious soil erosion problems. Proi essor Huang has Proposed some scientific suggestions and measures to prevent soil erosions. (3) He has also given useful advices on the development of the Guangzhou Institute of Geography, especially on the researches after the reform policies were adopted.
