摘要： 随着社会信息化的加速发展,地理信息系统应用不断扩大与深化.本文综合分析GIS产业化、大型系统的建立、应用特点和地域差别等问题,并对其社会背影进行探讨,认为信息高速公路和区域持续发展为GIS发展提供了巨大动力,一个新的GIS应用热潮即将到来.

Abstract: With the development of the information on technology and the society,GIS is beingproliferated with various applications depending on the use. This paper mainly analyzes thegeneral characteristics of GIS application, such as the forming of GIS industry, the buildingof large scale systems, the geographic difference in applications as well as the social background of GIS application. Sparked by the Information Supper Highway and the pursuing ofsustainable development,the applications of GIS in the coming future has a brilliantprospects.
