Abstract: Regional industrial system,in the author's opinion, is an industrialized area with diversified sectorial structure and close techno-economic linkages among the comprising industrial sectors and points, thus forming a territorial industrial integration of a certain level with special features.Under the circumstances of China,for the formation of industrial system of a macro-economic region, five requirements should be met: 1) a relatively integrated sectorial structure, 2) adequately strong economic strength and considerably large consumer market, 3) many an industrial base and a batch of industrial centers, 4) reliable resource base and 5) effective production and management system and organization form.According to these criteria, first-order regional industrial systems has already taken shape in Northeast China, North China and East China, process of formation and basic features of them are discussed respectively.Industrial region (base) is, in essence, the subsystem of a macro-regional industrial system and often acts as the core area of a large economic region.Analyzing existing industrial bases of China, three types of them could be divided:resource-type, market-type and mixed type. The author takes Central and Southern Liaoning, Changjiang Delta and Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan region as examples of these types and makes a brief account of them.
