The Peoples Republic of China is now undertaking a far-reaching program of territorial readjustment.This program comprises three parts.1) a detailed servey of natural resources and socioeconomic conditions,2) a rational and comprehensive plan of development to attain the best economic return and ecological effect of the territority and 3) law of regional management.As the work of territorial readjustment is largely of regional integration and assessment,it is closely related to geograply,an integrating and regional science.Chinese geographers are increasingly involved in the program of territorial readjustment which,it is hoped,will give a new impetus to the progress of geographical science in china.It is suggested that besides the well-developed regions,such as Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Triangle and the Changjiang Delta,attention should be paid to undeveloped regions with rich potential resources,like zinjiang,so that the present exfremely uneven distribution of population in China may be gradually altered.
