Abstract

Through simulating under conditions of low temperatures,freezing and thawing and in wind tunnel,wind erosion mechanism of ancient adobe construction was studied.The results show that erosion rate of wind driven sands is 130 times greater than the winds.Freezing and thawing is also an important factor which causes the in crease of wind erosion.There forewest wind and rainfall are main causes which result in the erosion and destruction of the ancient adobe construction at Mogao Grottoes.Experiment also shows that eroion can be prevented by applying 5%LS and 10%PS conservation materials.
