Structure and layout of maritime industries are important for maritime economic geography research.The development of maritime economy in China has encouraged rapid increase of literatures from Chinese scholars on its industrial structure and layout, characterized with rich case studies on regional maritime economy.However,we think research on the theoretical system of maritime industries structure and layout is still underdeveloped and needs more efforts on theory innovation.The existing Chinese literatures on maritime industry structure and layout can be classified in six parts according to the contents they discussed.(1)the concept and discipline about the structure and layout of maritime industries,and the difference from those industries on land.(2)cases studies of coastal provinces and big cities on the structures of their maritime industries,mainly focusing on the present condition and problem,structure optimization,leading industry selection, performance evaluation,competitiveness and trend.(3)regional layout models of maritime industries,optimization and supporting policies.(4)capacity evaluation of marine resources and environment,and maritime industry zoning and planning.(5)discussion on maritime industry cluster,especially on port and shipping related industries.(6)the development trend of maritime industries in other countries,and the statistic standards and regional cooperation. This paper discusses the increase of Chinese literature on maritime industries structure and layout,offers suggestion on future research exploration in the frontline field and theoretical system building,and scientific guidance for building state-level maritime economy development model district.
