西方地理学“情感转向”与情感地理学研究述评

摘要

由于地理学长期受理性原则的支配,情感在地理学的研究中一直处于较边缘的地位。随着近期西方人文社会科学对情感研究热情的不断高涨,地理学也开始关注情感对空间和社会的塑造,并由此引发西方地理学的“情感转向”。随着《Emotional Geographies》一书的诞生,以及专刊《Emotion,Space and Society》的创立,情感地理作为一门跨学科的研究也逐渐形成并日益发展壮大。西方地理学“情感转向”的产生受到身体和女性主义地理学、人本主义地理学、非表征理论和精神分析法等理论和方法的深刻影响。通过对249篇情感地理学的期刊论文以及相关著作进行的分析,梳理了情感地理学相关的研究议题,以期促进国内人文地理学对情感问题的关注。

Abstract

The discipline of geography often presents us with an emotionally barren terrain, leading to spaces ordered solely by rational principles and demarcated according to political, economic or technical logics. However, this situation is beginning to change, as the recent burgeoning publications and conference session dedicated to emotion, which resulted in emerging "emotional turn" within geography. Four precursors contributed to "emotional turn" are discussed in this context, including body and feminist works, humanistic geographies, non-representational theories and psychotherapy. As a new branch of human geographies, emotional geographies was considered as an interdisciplinary platform for exploring the spatiality and sociality of emotion, feeling and affect. According to the books and journals related to emotional geographies, seven hot issues are major concerns of scholars at present: climate change and ecology; intimate space; geopolitics of emotion; educational geography of emotion; place and belonging; ethnic and racial geography of emotion; special group. In summary, we hope the work conducted in the present paper can shed new light on domestic research upon emotional geography that is rarely presented in domestic research.

1 引言

情感对人类的重要性不言而喻,影响着人对过去、现在和未来认知的方式。近期西方人文和社会科学对情感的研究热情持续高涨,人类学[1]、社会学[2-4]、哲学[5,6]、政治学[7,8]和种族性别与文化研究[9,10]等领域,以学科交叉的视角不约而同地将目光投向情感这个主题。而在文化理论研究“空间转向”[11,12]的影响下,情感的空间性问题也得到了相应的重视[13]。自2001年Anderson和Smith正式提出情感地理学（Emotional Geographies）的概念,并提倡重视情感塑造社会空间的研究以来[14],情感地理学的专著和文章大量涌现。Joyce Davidson等于2005年主编的《Emotional Geographies》和Mick Smith等于2009年主编的《Emotion,Place and Culture》收录了不同专业背景学者对情感地理的探索,成为了系统详尽阐述情感地理学的开山之作。同时,情感地理学专刊《Emotion,Space and Society》的应运而生,为情感的空间性和社会性问题之跨学科研究提供了一个宽广的平台。伴随着情感对社会—空间生活和人地关系影响的重要性日益得到体现,地理学界也迎来了其“情感转向”[15]。在“情感转向”的影响下,情感开始摆脱作为纯粹主观精神问题的范畴而走向广阔的社会—文化空间,空间性、开放性和关系性的情感也得到了确立。
作为情感地理学的代表人物,Davidson等尝试从情感定位于身体和地方,即情感所处的位置、人与环境的情感联系和情感地理的具象化三个方面构建情感地理学的研究内容[15],并提出情感地理不能仅仅作为一个新的话题,而应充分汲取女权主义、现象学、精神分析法和非表征理论等多元的理论方法[16]。但是,情感地理学作为近期西方地理学的一个新兴学科,目前整体还是处于初期发展阶段。本文主要对西方地理学的“情感转向”以及情感地理的研究议题进行系统地回顾与梳理,以期丰富和完善国内人文地理学的相关研究视野和方法。

2 西方地理学“情感转向”

一般认为,西方地理学情感转向始于Anderson等[14]和Sharp[17]于2001在《Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers》发表的社论。2002年,以“情感地理学”为主题的第一次情感地理国际研讨会在英国兰开斯特大学召开,并收到来自地理和其他不同学科学者的80多篇论文。情感地理在学术界崭露头角并引起普遍关注。2003-2004年美国地理学家协会年会中,以“空间化情感”为主题的情感地理学专题讨论首次出现,会议相关成果在期刊发表并整理成著作出版( 例如2004年《Social and Cultural Geography》的第4卷第5期;2004年《Gender, Place and Culture》的第3卷第11期;Joyce Davidson与Liz Bondi主编的《Emotional Geographies》。),标志着情感地理的跨学科研究已经迅速形成[18]。此后,情感地理国际研讨会分别于2006年、2008年、2010年和2012年召开四次。地理学的“情感转向”也逐渐并肩学术界对情感的研究热潮。社会学家Simon William 曾分析了学术界情感研究热情产生的促进因素：女权主义对理性的争论、对宏大叙事（meta narratives）批判的影响,对身体的研究兴趣,消费文化导致的情感商业化,情感健康（关于情感管理的文化治疗）,关于情感、民主和生活的政治争论[19]。而在“情感转向”之前,地理学对身体（body）和具象化（embodiment）的研究不断涌现,引起了学者通过身体研究情感问题的兴趣[20]。此外,女性主义地理学、人本主义地理学、精神分析地理学和非表征理论为情感地理学和“情感转向”建立了重要的基础。

2.1 身体、具象化与女性主义地理学

身体作为情感发生最紧密的空间尺度[20],使情感在身体和具象化研究中得到重视。尤其在慢性病和残疾人地理与精神问题地理领域的身体和具象化研究中,情感在特定环境和地方的呈现与表征得到了关注。Dyck研究了硬化症女性对工作场所赋予其残疾人形象时所产生的压抑感和排斥感[21],而Moss则以自身的脑脊髓炎经历为例,阐述了在工作场所受到的过度同情与轻视时的情感混乱状态[22]。精神问题地理研究则证明了如广场恐惧症[23,24]、强迫症[25]、精神疾病[26]等精神问题的症状与情感经历息息相关。研究也发现社区护理在情感关怀上对精神疾病治疗的作用显著[27,28]。身体边界常常以冲突、破坏的情感方式被感知与谈判[29]。女性怀孕与女性的情感变化[30]、健身与身体情感[31]、身体消费[32,33]等方面的研究,也表明了身体边界的产生、变化与重构都离不开情感的作用。
但是身体和具象化研究多见于女性主义地理学研究中。长期以来男性气概（masculinity）常被认为是理性的、精神的和客观性的,而女性气质（femininity）则被认为是情感的、身体的和主观性的[29,34]。女性主义地理学广泛运用后结构主义的观念,质疑并动摇这种二元结构的思考方式[35-37]。对二元结构思考方式与理性的反思与批评,也在一定程度上使得情感的地位得到确立。如在女性恐惧感的研究中,关注了女性恐惧感与父权空间的关系[38]、诱导女性恐惧感产生的环境[39]、恐惧感在性别服从中产生的空间影响[40-43]等内容,使得情感问题得到了一定的空间化研究。身体、具象化与女性地理学与情感的研究相互交融,通过对理性与情感、我者与他者的二元解构,流动的、呈现的（embodied）与相关性的情感也得到了概念化。

2.2 人本主义地理学

受现象学与存在主义哲学思潮的影响,1970年代人文地学界开始了对客观性、理性与逻辑实证主义的反思。以段义孚为代表的人本主义地理学的兴起[44],人对地方与空间的体验与感觉得到了地理学家的广泛关注[45-47]。虽然,“情感”并没有明显地出现在人本主义地理学的研究中,但Ley等关于影像收集的研究[46]、Rowles关于老年人空间体验的研究[48],以及Tuan对恐惧景观的分析[49],都已经关注到了地方与人类生活的情感问题。而且,作为描述人与地方情感联系与心理依附的地方感、地方依恋和地方认同等概念,过去40年来,在地理学、城市规划与环境心理学领域被广泛运用到对“生活世界”的描述中[50],人的主观体验在地理学中的地位也得到确认。基于新古典经济学的假设,人总是倾向于自治和经济理性的行动者,这也使逻辑实证主义的计量方法被广泛地运用到地理学研究中。地理学曾一度概念化成“空间科学”,而人本主义地理学对此则持强烈批判态度,动摇了经济合理性对地理学的统治[18]。空间不是冰冷的几何空间,还承载着人类丰富的情感体验[51]。这也直接影响到了情感地理学对“抽象空间”的反思[16]。人本主义地理学在空间与地方的主观体验方面的研究,为情感地理学留下了丰厚的遗产,但却没有动摇到将情感简单化为个人的主观体验的看法[18]。

2.3 非表征理论与精神分析方法

文化地理学也关注具象化的情感,并提倡关注超越言语的表征方式,即非表征[52]。非表征理论认为,无论是文本、言语还是视觉都不能作为情感的表征方式[52]。如Dewsbury认为“目击”生产了“缺乏沉思的认知”[53]。Lorimer认为在地理学研究中,被调查者的言语往往会与其所为背道而驰,情感表演由于难以通过言语来捕捉,所以非表征理论更倾向于人的实践行为和非言语行为,并运用抽象的哲学语言去解释这些行为[54]。然而,非表征理论却远离了人在日常生活中清晰表达情感的模式,正如Bondi所言：即使语言经常带有表演性,但非语言行为除非存在预解释或是存在意义的符号,否则也是无意义的[16]。非表征理论为情感地理学研究留下了一个尖锐的问题,但文本的表演性问题、非语言行为和难以被表达的情感也受到情感地理学的重视,非表征理论也被广泛应用到情感地理学研究中。另一方面,精神分析法的广泛应用也为剖析情感问题提供了有利的工具。Bondi提出,精神分析法给情感地理学传递了两个重要的信息：一是避免将情感当作普通的、主观的纯粹个人表达,二是感觉的表征与情感的区别[18]。但是,近来由非表征和精神分析法掀起的对情感（emotion）和感情（affect）地理学的争论表明,过于强调精神分析的作用,反而会让情感地理研究引入局限的心理学范畴[55,56]。虽然,情感地理学与心理学密不可分,但情感地理学更多还是强调情感的空间性、开放性与关系性。

3 西方情感地理学主要研究议题

3.1 文献概况

在Science Direct、Sage Publications、EBSCO和Wiley Inter Science四大外文数据库分别在篇名、关键词和摘要中输入“emotional geographies”、“affectual geographies”和“affective geography”进行联合检索。截至2013年7月1日,共检索到与情感地理直接相关的期刊论文249 篇,包括发表在《Emotion, Space and Society》（简称ESS）上的153篇。通过对249篇文献进行归类分析,发现情感地理学的研究成果除了刊登在ESS上,还包括《Social and Cultural Geography》（17篇）、《Gender,Place and Culture》（12篇）、《Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers》（8篇）等期刊。近几年情感地理学论文发表每年保持在25篇以上（图1）,并呈不断上升趋势,充分表明地理学“情感转向”的发展。根据对文献研究议题的分析,主要聚焦在生态环境与气候变化、地方与归属感、亲密空间、政治、教育、种族与少数人群的话题。研究主题的广泛性表明了情感问题作为一个跨越自然和人文的研究领域得到了广泛关注。

3.2 研究议题分析

3.2.1 情感、生态环境与气候变化 当海平面向图瓦卢最后一寸土地逼近,家园的失落给图瓦卢居民带来的绝望和流离失所之感深深触动地理学家的神经,学界已经意识到环境和气候变化给人类的影响已经蔓延到了情感领域[57]。虽然,气候变化作为一个全球问题已经得到学术界的普遍关注,但是气候转变与人类,尤其是以土地为生的贫困和边缘人群的情感响应却一直受到忽视[58]。自Kay Milton提出生态情感模型并搭建起情感研究中自然与文化的桥梁以来[59,60],生态环境、气候变化问题也逐渐成为情感地理研究的热点。在此之前,环境心理学家在对心灵—自然关系瓦解的心理临床表现的研究中,已经为情感、精神健康、文化认同与生态环境变化的复杂关系做了初步的探讨,并提出了生态心理学（ecocpsychology）[61]和环境乡愁（solastalgia）[62]概念。而情感地理学则注重从人地关系的角度研究人类情感对生态和气候变化的响应。
Graybill通过对情感地图的分析发现,长期处于政治和经济边缘地带的库页岛原著民对家园观念的构建更多地是依赖于人与自然相互依存中建立的生态情感[63]。然而气候变化导致的生态系统和栖息地环境的退化,以及生计的丢失已深深威胁到了人类对“家”的情感与记忆,“环境乡愁”也由此产生。Willox等在对加拿大因纽特人社区大规模的调查中发现,面对深深依恋的冰雪土地与令人堪忧的前景,因纽特人呈现出焦虑与悲伤交织的情感状态[64]。在非洲加纳,气候变化加剧了农作物失收和水资源紧缺的状况,“环境乡愁”和“空洞的家园”导致了不断退化的社会关系和人与人之间日益冷漠的情感[65]。Ryan从身体和具象化的角度,研究了植物多样性的减少与植物记忆的遗失,揭示了人依附于植物群落的丰富情感[66]。生态环境退化导致的食物安全[67]与空气污染问题[68]影响着人的身体情感。现代文明与生态环境的矛盾也夹杂着复杂的情感,路杀与荒野消融透视着生命敬畏感的缺失[69]和对动物情感的反思[70],而工程开发与自然神圣空间的矛盾则威胁着人类的信仰与宗教情感[71,72]。
生态情感模型暗示着情感在人类对生态环境变化的感知和响应中扮演着重要的角色[59,60]。情感影响着人类环境知识的形成,自然蕴含的环境美学在情感上构建起人与自然的世界观,并影响环境保护主义的形成[73]。地方知识、传统知识和地方叙事积累的人地情感也直接影响到山地居民对冰川消退的感知[74]。面对日益恶化的生态危机,环境学家号召通过亲近自然的方式恢复对自然的热爱之情,世界“抱树运动”表明生态情感与环境保护行动相互促进[75]。Cara等发现对环境的自责与愧疚刺激了志愿者投身生态恢复运动的认知决策[76]。情感地理学同时也关注到情感在环境决策和政策中的作用。Drew等揭示了宗教情感如何促成印度政府撤销恒河水利工程和建立生态敏感区的决策[72],而Farbotko等阐述了气候科学和情感如何交织于哥本哈根气候谈判之中,号召情感不应被排斥在科学决策之外[57]。
3.2.2 亲密空间(intimate Spaces) 亲密性是一个跨学科的研究话题。从心理学的内部心智研究、跨文化研究中人际距离学到人类学的亲属结构都吸引了学者的研究目光。而地理学则着眼于人类日常生活中亲密空间和情感空间的研究。ESS于2010第1期设立了“亲密空间”专题,亲密空间与同性恋、青少年和身体等话题相交融,并探讨了如何通过亲密性实现有效的民族志研究。身体[77,78]、餐厅[79]、文化风情区[80],甚至是网络空间[81,82]都蕴含着亲密性。亲密性通过身体、空间和情感而实现其流动。如Dennis等研究了国家霸权和心理创伤如何通过植根于穆斯林移民身体的亲密性而实现跨区域的流动,从而控制其身体和家的亲密空间[77];Eldridge则通过对伦敦街头随地小便群体的研究,发现亲密感通过共同的愤怒宣泄和身体展现而实现在该群体中流动[78]。随着网络社区的兴起,网络空间所蕴含的情感和亲密性也受到了学者的关注。如Race探索了同性恋群体的艾滋病预防伦理,发现同性恋网络社区所形成的“情感氛围”和“同志文化”对艾滋病群体与非艾滋病群体的性交往行为起着重要的调解和规范作用[81-82]。
情感地理学对亲密空间的关注也延续着人类学民族志方法中关于“如何进入他者文化”的话题。事实上,亲密性即是情感距离的相互关系,也认识他者和感受他者存在感的过程。
在情感地理学看来,地理学家的身体应该是能感知被研究者情感的乐器[83]。对亲密空间的研究也要求调查者置身与该亲密空间之中,否则情感也难以在调查者与参与者之间传递和流动。如Meunier解释了如何通过“移情”的方法进入青少亲密空间而实现了高效的调查研究[84],而Evers发现共同的体育参与营造的亲密空间能消除研究者与被研究者间的权力不平等[83],这也启示研究者在学术研究中更多地要打开自己的情感和感受。
3.2.3 政治与情感地理 情感地理学对政治问题的研究主要集中在两个方面：在政治和地理的语境下探讨行动主义（activism）、抵抗（resistance）与情感的关系,以及这种关系如何通过不同的空间尺度实现其生产与再生产;城市与公共空间下特定情感与政治行动的关系,其中恐惧感尤为引人注意。ESS于2009年第2期开设“行动主义与情感持续性”专题探讨情感对激发和维持政治行动的重要意义。Brown从地方、集体认同、身体和人际关系几个维度构建起了行动主义的情感空间[85]。Wilkinson在对英国反资本主义组织的研究中发现,阶层情感和认同构成行动主义文化的重要方面,为抗议行为提供了持续的情感源泉[86]。情感地理学注重在社区和日常生活中寻找激发行动主义的情感因素,如Horton对英国母亲参与“确保开端计划”的研究中,揭示了有社区情感激发的“隐性的行动主义”对推动社会改革的重要意义[87];Askins则以自身的学术研究生活为例,分析了情感如何激发学者的政治行动[88]。
随着工业化和全球化进入全盛时期,恐怖主义、环境污染、疾病和贫富差距等问题加速了城市与恐惧感的结合。Pain于2009年系统回顾了地理学对恐惧感的研究,发现“恐惧全球化”的叙述已广泛呈现在地理学文献中,并建议在不同的尺度下开展情感的政治地理研究[89]。ESS于2011年第4期设立“城市性、恐惧感与政治行动”专题,探索城市不断更新的恐惧感与政治行动的相互关系。Boudreau发现严峻的政治氛围产生的恐惧感和不安全感促使人民对英雄主义的渴望,恐惧感成为一种政治行动的工具[90]。Olstead在恐惧感的性别政治研究中,发现女性边缘作业（天空跳跃、攀岩等高风险活动）背后隐藏着女性对恐惧感、风险与自我认同的协商,其实质是一种女性主义的政治行动[91]。Pedrazzini则将目光投向后殖民时期城市的恐惧感问题,从另类的视角分析了对街头匪帮的恐惧感具有维持对“草根阶层”关注的作用,其背后折射的是全球化过程中的南北不公平现象[92]。此外,城市犯罪的恐惧感[93]、卖淫者对霸权的恐惧感[94]也反映了后现代城市的困惑。
3.2.4 教育与情感地理 2000-2001年,教育学家Hargreaves提出了“教学的情感地理”的崭新概念,用于解释在学校空间下教师情感与教育改革等问题[95-97],开始了同时从空间和情感的角度对教育问题的研究。Hargreaves提出了“在情感的亲密性和距离实现情感理解”的理论框架,从社会文化地理、道德地理、专业地理、政治地理和自然地理五个维度组建起了教师的情感地理[96]。而Evans则将该理论框架运用于近十年美国教育改革对促进家庭参与度的检验中[98]。近期,情感的社会—文化空间分析也逐渐融入到教育地理学的研究中,主要表现在对情感如何在学校与教室的微观地理空间中运作的关注。Watkins基于Mccarthy提出的“内部性（interiority）”概念[99],研究了促使教师流泪的原因,指出教师的眼泪不是简单的一种情感迹象,而是在教室这一沉淀班级记忆与情感的微观地理空间下,对职业和工作的反应[100]。
继Sibley在《Outsiders in an Urban Society》中对流浪儿童教育的关注[101],情感地理学也延续着其“排斥地理”（geographies of exclusion）的研究,如关注校园的政治、种族和文化冲突背后的情感地理。Zembylas发现种族的分离与矛盾可以导致学校情感空间的断裂,不同种族的学生从书桌、教室和运动场等不同尺度的空间上划分彼此的情感边界[102]。而Grinberg则揭示了阿根廷冷酷的政治政策下教育资源配备严重不公的状况,贫民窟学校成为了贫困再生产与阶层固化的车间,儿童的价值和情感不断受到摧残[103]。此外,在全球化和后殖民主义的背景下,地方意识与地方情感的教育[104]、校园情感景观（emoscapes）与文化认同[105]等也是热议的话题。
3.2.5 地方与归属感 情感地理学仍然延续着人本主义地理学对地方的关注。而地方作为承载人的社会关系和经历的社会文化空间,蕴含着人类丰富的情感,如用于表征人地情感联系的恋地情结（topophilia）、地方感[106]和地方依恋[107]等术语。Davidson等认为情感定位于身体和地方,情感地理学关注情感呈现在典型的日常生活地方中的方式[15]。而且情感地理学对地方的关注与家、归属感等话题相互交融,并试图在人地关系的大框架下寻求对人类情感更细致入微的分析和关怀。
跨国主义和后殖民主义也是情感地理学在地方研究中两个重要的视角。Kobayashi等以加拿大的香港移民为例,分析了地方感如何塑造跨国的习惯和身份认同,揭示了情感因素在跨国主义与地方重构中的作用[108]。Liu则研究了新西兰的中国新移民对家、身份认同和社会空间重新定义与协商[109]。Kearney等从后殖民主义视角,研究了澳大利亚殖民时期对土著地区地名的修改所留下的“情感债务”,原始地名一方面成为部落维系祖先记忆和地方叙事的情感纽带;另一方面,则唤起了土著居民对家园失落的悲痛感,地名背后也隐藏着情感与权力的复杂关系[110]。
近期地理学对归属感的研究兴趣不断提升,如EPA于2009年设立了“归属感地理”专题。但以往对归属感的研究也存在诸多局限：缺乏对交互性的归属感的研究[111],即在不同空间尺度下多层次归属感的协商;归属感被理所当然地认为具有情感的性质,但却鲜有真正从情感的角度研究归属感,归属感如何作为一种情感依恋发挥作用以及其情感的维度还少有探讨[112]。故ESS于2011年第4期设立“归属感的尺度”专题,同时从情感和尺度两个角度探讨归属感问题。Gorman-Murray剖析了归属感的性别维度,研究了后金融危机背景下,职业男性对家和工作场所情感依恋的转变,揭示了经济和社会结构的变动对个人归属感的影响[113];Caluya则关注了种族政治的归属感,分析了情感如何促进家与民族之间的“尺度跳跃（scale-jumping）”[114]。移民一直是归属感研究中重要的关注对象,因为流动的地方透视着家的重新定义与情感空间的置换。Richter根据移民对地方的情感依恋,将地方分为作为身份认同的地方和日常行为的地方,前者是基于地方想象与记忆构建的“文化符号”,而后者则是移民社会关系的重构,是现实生活中的地方[115]。然而移民的地方感与归属感并不是断裂的,可以通过教堂、餐厅等“异质情感空间”得到延续与重构[116]。而另一些学者则将目光投向不同移民群体归属感的差异,发现第一代和第二代移民群体的归属感、对家乡的认知以及流动性都存在显著差异[117,118]。
3.2.6 种族与情感地理 种族作为一种“流动的符号”,如何在特定时间和空间下实现物质化,而情感在其中又扮演着怎样的角色,这是种族研究中常常被忽略的问题。Frantz曾指出,人对种族的理解往往是殖民恐惧心态的投射,多数是想象虚构的[119],种族也带有情感的性质。情感地理学对种族问题的研究则关注了种族的身体体现、（跨）种族认同感、恐惧感与憎恨等话题。在全球化和多元文化主义的浪潮下,跨种族的“全球地方感”[120]似乎成为许多西方城市的特征,现代性的种族景观也正在形成。如Bozic-Vrbanci发现当下欧盟媒体试图通过对“欧洲情感”的渲染以增强超民族认同感[121]。但事实上,种族仍逃脱不了历史的阴影和情感债务的纠结。“9·11”后,恐惧感与情感成为种族研究的关键词,并深刻影响着种族政策和全球安全。如有学者开始研究恐怖主义导致西方对穆斯林群体身体的恐惧感[122];澳大利亚土著居民仍保留着对白人殖民时期的恐惧,而这种恐惧感投射在空间上表现为土著民对清晰与稳定的自治区边界的强烈心理依赖[123]。Pardy关注了种族憎恨问题,认为身体和心理的差异清晰描绘了“我者”与“他者”的情感边界,而种族憎恨则是应对这种人类主体性差异的抚慰方式和情感响应[124]。Nayak运用非表征理论研究了伦敦郊区多种族社区的地方感和种族的情感政治学,提出种族地理学研究不能忽视身体的物质性,以及多种族群体通过“权力几何（Power-geometry）”的内外流动实现社会关系的整合[125,126]。
3.2.7 特殊人群与情感地理 出于对道德伦理和社会公正的追求,地理学家对同性恋、残疾人、精神病患者、吸毒者和难民等特殊社会群体在日常社会空间被排斥和边缘化的现象给予了充分的关注,而情感作为伦理关怀的重要方面在特殊群体研究中的地位也日益凸显[127]。如Kawale利用了Butler的性别与表演性理论研究了“异性空间霸权”的制度化过程,指出情感行为的表演性和情感规训建构了性别空间,并抹杀了性别的多样性[128]。而Gorman-Murray则关注了同性恋移民群体,探讨了情感、欲望和亲密依恋如何塑造同性恋群体的流动性[129]。随着精神分析法在地理学研究中的广泛应用,精神病患者的情感空间也受到了情感地理学者的关注,如对孤独症[130]、埃斯博综合症[131]和焦虑症[132]患者的情感地理研究表明,社会应该更加关注社会公共空间对精神病患者情感世界的影响。ESS于2012年第5期开设专题对福柯所著的《I, Pierre Rivière, Having Slaughtered My Mother, My Sister, and My Brother》一书中记录的1835年发生在法国南部的谋杀案展开讨论,并吸引了心理、教育和青少年问题等领域学者的参与。在福柯研究的基础上,该专题文章运用了哲学民族志和艺术方法论对该案的法庭档案、回忆录和历史文本进行分析,从伦理[133]、精神病与刑事责任[134]、性别空间[135]等视角剖析了比埃尔·李维尔的情感地理。此外,Briggs还研究了街头吸毒者因背负污名而遭社会疏远的压抑情感[136]。Munt则探讨了女性难民的情感创伤和心灵恢复[137]。

4 结论与讨论

地理学似乎患有严重的情感表达障碍,而且地理学一直也处在担心失去理性原则而不能得到客观的、科学的知识和方法论而失去自身价值的焦虑中[20]。情感研究在人文地理学领域的边缘化实际上体现了不平等的知识生产政治的一部分。从西方哲学史的角度看,情感所受的不公平待遇始于柏拉图的“灵肉二分”哲学。亚里士多德以理性作为至善追求的核心的同时却将情感视作低级情欲而排除在至善追求之外,而笛卡儿心灵哲学的惟理智主义的盛行,以及工业革命以来自然科学演变而来的实证主义,更加强化了理性对人类生活世界的殖民。西方的文明史其实是一部理性占主导、情感受压抑的历史。情感研究的兴起受到现象学和身体哲学等思潮的滋养,实质上是西方哲学对自身批判性反思的结果,是后现代主义大军中的重要一员。长期以来地理学充斥着客观化的科学技术和调查,理性原则长期支配着地理学对空间的理解,定量和服从技术逻辑的空间导致了如列斐伏尔所描述的：“一方面,‘真实’简化为存在于白纸上的没有其他性质的规划;另一方面,简化为一种绝对冰冷的纯粹景象、一个镜面、一个图像的平面”[138]。这也导致了情感在地理学中一直处于边缘化的地位。情感地理学的存在与发展是对传统地理学的挑战,某种意义上是来自“边缘”对“中心”（如男性、白人、理性知识、科学、西方等）的抵抗[139]。“情感转向”研究是继“文化转向”以来的又一次强有力的哲学思潮洗礼过程,在批判“社会—空间辩证法”的基础上又加入了情感这一新的维度,强调“关系性”、“主体间性”等思想,为理解人与生活世界的关系提供了新视角。“情感转向”的深入发展,意味着一个理性地理学时代的到来,人文关怀和情感关怀在地理学将得到更充分的体现。
情感地理学作为国际上较为前沿的研究领域,在国内文献中仅见于邵培仁等在媒介地理学中的介绍[139,140]。此外,2013年7月在华南师范大学举办的“中国地理学会‘社会文化地理’国际高级研修班”会议上,朱竑也曾简短地阐释了情感地理学在西方的发展脉络和今后国内可能开展的研究方向。事实上,国内地理学对地方依恋、地方感和地方认同问题的研究已开始涌现并初步关注到了人与特定地方的情感联系,但对情感的空间性和社会性问题仍需更加深入和理论化的研究。值得指出的是,情感在中国文化语境下,却有与西方截然不同的历史渊源和哲学基础。与西方哲学将情感与理性对立起来的二元论哲学以及视情感为纯粹私人的、主观的和非理性的情感主义伦理学相比较,中国儒家哲学则重视情感的共同性、普遍性,并主张情感与理性的统一[141]。国内情感地理学的研究应扎根于中国历史文化的土壤中。在当前全球化和快速城镇化的背景下,中国的社会文化空间正经历着剧烈的变革与重构。这一过程不仅是物资、文化和符号等一套系统的转变,还是社会情感空间的转变再建构。因此,未来情感地理学的研究应立足于中国的背景,着重分析情感如何在社会、经济、政治甚至权力过程中参与到社会空间的建构,例如城乡、国际和工程移民等情感空间的重构、情感与居住和生态环境、城市边缘群体的情感体验、情感在社会空间中的消费和管制以及情感的文化政治研究等都具有重要的学术价值。总之,情感作为构成人类生活世界的一个重要维度应受到地理学的重视,从而真正做到以人为本。
